Kingsley Center
At Onward Seniors, our mission is to connect adults aged 55+ with meaningful part-time roles, enriching classes, volunteer opportunities, and community events. We believe in the power of purposeful living and staying engaged. That’s why we’re so excited to work with the Kingsley Association, an organization whose own history, values, and community service ethos align so beautifully with what we aim to achieve.

Why Kingsley Association Matters

The Kingsley Association is a Pittsburgh institution with roots stretching back to the 19th century. Founded in 1893 as a settlement house in Pittsburgh, it began as the “Kingsley House” to serve working-class and immigrant families.  Over time it has evolved, relocated, and expanded, but its core purpose remains supporting children, youth, families, and the broader community.

Its current facility in Pittsburgh’s East End (Larimer/East Liberty) serves as a “physical anchor” for social, wellness and service programming in the neighborhood. Along with Adult and Senior Programs, The Kingsley Association’s offerings include after-school youth leadership initiatives (such as its Teen L.E.A.D. program), and family-center services, including early child development and parenting support.
In short: Kingsley has a legacy of meeting people right where they are, offering connection, opportunity, and growth.
How the Partnership Supports Our Shared Vision

As Onward Seniors continues to grow our platform for adults 55+, the partnership with The Kingsley Association allows us to anchor our work in an organization that:

  • Has deep community roots and trust in the Pittsburgh region.
  • Understands intergenerational dynamics, youth and elder engagement, and the power of community-based programming.
  • Offers physical space, network and infrastructure that can help support events, classes, and volunteer matching for our 55+ audience.
  • Shares a mission of inclusive engagement, lifelong participation, and building meaningful connections.

Looking Ahead Together

We at Onward Seniors are eager to work hand-in-hand with The Kingsley Association to launch programs tailored to adults 55+ in the Pittsburgh region. Whether that’s senior mentors engaging younger participants, 55+ adults teaching classes, or volunteering at Kingsley-led youth programs — the potential is rich.
We’ll be sharing upcoming events, class listings, and ways to get involved via our website and email updates. Stay tuned. In the meantime: thank you to The Kingsley Association for being a key partner and fiscal sponsor. Your legacy and commitment empower us to build something meaningful for older adults and our entire community.
